Why do certain cards get banned/restricted?
We consider that a card should get banned because;
It's an ante card
It makes for unfun mechanics that gets the other players not to enjoy the game (we are talking about unstoppable turn 1 combo wins more than anything)
Some cards would just be in every deck for how broken they are, damaging the deckbuilding possibilities, for example, every deck would benefit greatly from having a black lotus, maybe or moxes, therefore decks would almost always have sort of "reserved" spots for these cards, that's just boring.
Cards that reduce the diversity of decks. If a card makes it so that a certain deck will win virtually always, so that all decks need to have counter options for that card and that competitive decks must only consist of maybe 2 decks should be banned.
What can I do to modify the banlist or the restricted list?
You can suggest that a certain card should be legal/banned/restricted, and help testing it and participate in the decision making of the process of updating the format.
You can also help refining the format by just playing it, and posting your opinions, decks and experiences with it.
